Gallery Updates…

OK, This whole update to the Gallery was a bad Idea… But in the end it worked out I suppose.

There are new photos today of Cisco Kid in Cisco’s Gallery here.

This is where Cisco hangs out, half in the barn and half out.

And photos of Hazel (The barn Cat). Yes we have a cat, not a stray even, we (Claudine, the one who’s deathly allergic to said species of animals) brought it home and placed this furry kitten into the barn.

She’s cute and all, but barn cats are well, barn cats. They just happen.

She has a gallery too, because she’s not just a barn cat as I’ve been informed. We’re feeding her and everything. You can see more of her here.

Horse Shopping

We’re currently looking for, or are in the market for another horse. Saturday we took a quick trip to look at a Foxtrotter/Quarterhorse mix.

The current owners, have a pretty nifty farm in northern KY, and they invited us down for a trail ride to check out the horse.

They were kind enough to saddle up “Blackie” and another one of their horses and took Claudine and I (along with a neighbor) on a really nice 1 hour trail ride.

Blackie was pretty close to what we’re looking for. He’s got the right stuff. FoxTrotter smoothness. He’s a little rough around the edges and needs some ground manners. But he’s also a little expensive for a “mutt”.

Cisco needs a partner but we’re looking for a horse that we can ride too, not just a pasture pal.

So if you’re local, and have a nice horse, with no vices, that gates, and isn’t too old and needs a home. Let us know. 🙂

Monty is loving it.

Monty eats up all this time outside working in the field. That little bugger lives to be outside chasing anything that moves in the hay.

I snapped a couple photos of him while I was out shooting the progress on the barn today. The hay is currently taller than him by, oh about 6 inches.

Katie Dog Part III

Well it’s done.

We took her in this morning first thing.  We didn’t have to wait too long.  She was completely dehydrated and ready to go. We probably should have taken care of this last week but we thought it would be easier on the kids and it was with the extra week.  She didn’t seem to suffer too much.  But the last 24-36 hours you could tell she was having a hard time.
Cost to euthanize an 45lb dog these days is ~$125

While leaving we noticed that they charged $13.00 for owner observation, or something to that affect.  C asked why that was.  The lady checking us out replied plain as day, “That’s like an office visit, if we have to do it with you in the room that means we have to do it now, if you’re not here we can do it ‘when-ever’.”  It was worth $13 to see to it that her suffering was ended as early as possible.

In all reality the sedative they gave her to put her to sleep to be euthanized did her in.

We’ll miss her.

Katie Dog Part II

Well, the vet wasn’t far off.  Katie is now to the point where she’s looking uncomfortable and isn’t doing much at all.  We’re making the call and taking her in first thing tomorrow when the Vet opens, and/or as soon as we can get in.

It’s a sad day, but she’s had a very good life.  I think the kids are as ready for this as they’re going to get.  Having her home the last week certainly helped them with the transition and has given Katie some extra attention.
