Bengals back to .500, Chad with another big day.

Already the sports casters on the radio are touting how good the Bengals looked today. Hrm.

10-3 going into the 4th quarter, and most of that was pretty lucky.

CinNO

It’s pretty amazing that you can give up 601 yards, (510 in the air and 91 on the ground, yet hold an opponent to 16 points, and win the game).

Obviously timely turnovers were HUGE. Without them this game would have been a lot rougher.

But a win is a win. Yeah, they have a lot of starters out, but the D played the run pretty good all in all. They couldn’t stop the pass to save their lives though.

Cleveland next week, should be a win, but based upon the past couple weeks let’s not count that chicken just yet. Cleveland has been in a lot of games and found a way to lose. Hopefully they will continue that trend. A loss next week to Cleveland would be devastating.

Cat-n-Kittens

I found some photos I took of Haze (formerly Hazel but since SHE turned out to be a HE the name has changed).

We started 5 Kittens, one died for no apparent reason, one got stepped on by a horse, another passed perhaps because Haze play’s kind of hard, and two decided to try and swim in the horse’s watering trough.

In any event, they were barn cats, and as Dave at work says, barn cats have a life expectancy of next to nothing, especially when they are kittens.

Haze is still hanging around though.

Buca di Beppo

A couple of weeks ago, on a Sunday, (The week the Bengals dropped to 4-4), we as in the family we got together at Buca di Beppo for lunch. This lunch was my dad’s birthday lunch. The girls were already dressed up because they had a play to go too.

It was a nice enough day for a ride so when we arrived at Buca di Beppo’s we found my dad napping at the IronButt hotel. We pulled up right next to him and honked the horn but he didn’t notice it was us.

That’s what happens when you get old, as in 60 years old.

This was my first meal at Buca’s. For Italian it’s ok. Everything is served family style in big dishes. The plop it down on the table and you go at it just like you’re at home.

calamari

Their Calamari is pretty good, but it’s also hard to screw that up too. I mean deep fried squid, is pretty much deep fried squid. I love it… Yeah it’s kind of like chewing on a deep fried rubber band, but there is some flavor, especially when the dipping sauce is good.

For the main course we had Lasagna (about a 4 on a scale of 1-10), some lemon pepper chicken (Mom’s favorite), some other fuchsine noodle dishes and of course salad. Lots and lots of salad.

The ambiance at Buca’s is pretty average Italian fair. Lots of photos everywhere, your standard red and white checker table cloth.

Our server treated us pretty well, amazing actually considering he had to dodge a couple children that couldn’t be contained.

It was good to have a nice meal with the family.

Full size photos in the Google Gallery, yes I’m aware there isn’t a photo of Michael.
It’s not because we don’t love him, we do, but I didn’t take that many photos and, well, the ones I took just didn’t have him in them. 😀

Bengals 4-5 it’s unbelievable.

Wow, that’s all I can say is wow.

Up 28 to 7 at half time.

BengalsBox

Given the momentum they had, all they need do is hold SD to 14 points a quarter, or even 17 points a quarter.

The offense looked great except for the blind side sack which caused the fumble which led to one of the touchdowns.

I understand our D is hurt, but there is no excuse for that. The Bengals were out-coached, it’s that simple. San Diego made adjustments, good adjustments for which there was not Bengals counter.

The Bengals were never as good as a lot of people thought. But they have the potential. Now only one game ahead of Pittsburgh and 3 back from Baltimore it will take a Miracle to salvage this season.

I don’t understand the collapse, in a must win game for you, in which you take a 28-7 lead into the locker room at half time. There is no excuse.

Bengals Blow It & Drop to 4 & 4

The Bengals blew it. Hell they blew it in the first 5 minutes of the game. You can’t let a team like Baltimore get up on you 14-zip.

3 and out, 3 and out, and the D can’t get off the field on 3rd down, same story different week. I’ve never, ever seen a team so weak on 3rd down on both sides of the ball.

If I can sit back and pick one of the two plays we run on 3rd down, don’t you think other defensive coordinators can? It’s like we have (3) plays for 3rd down, that’s it, hell the majority of the time it’s the same curl to T.J. which unless you’re going to get the pass interference call, isn’t working. The same play ended up with on 4th down.

Now I realize this is probably Carson’s 3rd, option on that play, but that seems to be the one he’s hitting with consistency, or missing rather. The Bengals are now 1-4 in the last 5. That’s not good.

Certainly they have some key injuries. Rich Braham, but this was more than likely his last year anyway. We should have someone ready to slide right in.

The Bengals are decimated at Linebacker due to injuries and suspensions.

But fellas, it’s time to step up. “Do Your Job??? as Marvin would say. We’ve looked bad, no, downright awful.

It’s certainly clear the NFL and its officials hate the Bengals. Week after week, a bad call has ended the game early or killed a drive that was going to put the Bengals ahead or tie it up. But the Bengals should not be allowing the game to be decided by the officials.

They shouldn’t be in that position to begin with.

Right now 8 and 8 looks mighty optimistic unless some things change significantly for the better.

I have one last observation after watching that game on TV:

Dick Enberg, it’s time for you to consider retirement. Being blunt, you suck.

‘Chris Palmer’ does not play for us. You referenced the Bengals as Baltimore at least twice, maybe three times. I do give you credit for being able to pronounce Houshmandzadeh. But that’s it. I think you need to be checked for Alzheimer’s, and if you don’t have it, then your preparation for the game and ability to deliver is unacceptable. Simply put, you’re past your prime, get out while people still think you’re good.
